About Us
Mission statement/description
As daughters of Saint Francis and Saint Clare, these sisters are called to live the Holy Gospel, simply and plainly, according to the Form of Life the Saints gave them. As consecrated women, living without any personal possessions, in obedience and in papal enclosure or as an extern sister, each sister gives herself entirely to a life of prayer in worship or in the daily living of their monastic routine. They also have the privilege of exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Their monastic family is comprised of cloistered nuns and extern sisters. Their extern sisters are not bound by papal enclosure and care for all the external needs of the monastery.
Qualifications for entry
Good physical and mental health, with at least a high school education. Besides a love of prayer and a desire to serve God and the Church through intercessory prayer, a candidate must possess the ability to live happily in community and to work with others.
Formation program
All formation of the nuns takes place within the monastery. Formation consists of postulancy, at least two years of novitiate and three years of juniorate in simple profession before solemn or final profession.
Age range/limit
20-35
Consider belated vocations?
Yes
Belated/late vocations explanation
Belated vocations are considered only if a candidate is exceptionally qualified, and not after 50 years of age. The sisters find that life in a small enclosed community, living a very simple and somewhat penitential lifestyle, is a greater transition than older women are able to make.
