About Us

Mission statement/description The Handmaids are cloistered contemplatives dedicated to Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration for the sanctification of priests and the needs of the whole world. As a Pontifical community, their love for the Church is expressed in their unswerving loyalty and fidelity to the Holy Father, the Vicar of Christ on earth. Qualifications for entry Good physical and mental health with sufficient emotional maturity to live a joyful monastic community life. Candidates must also be free from all canonical impediments. Basic vocal musical ability required. Formation program Candidates participate in a two-to-four week "Come and See" experience at the motherhouse and a three-month aspirancy program either at the motherhouse or by correspondence. This is followed by a nine-month to one-year postulancy and a two-year novitiate. Vows are renewed annually for five years before solemn vows are taken.
