Mission statement/description
The Carmelite vocation is a call to a life of deep and personal friendship with Jesus. The great reformer of Carmel, St. Teresa of Jesus, described it this way: "Since He has so many enemies and so few friends, I desired that these few friends should be good ones."

Although Carmelite life is very simple, it is rich and fulfilling, because it is a life of love, prayer and sacrifice lived in the context of a community of sisters who are bonded together in a family atmosphere of friendship, joy and sharing. All are inspired by God with the same ideals and fire of love; all have surrendered their lives to Jesus for the Church.

In the ordinary Carmelite day there are intimate moments of heart to heart conversation with Jesus during the hours of personal prayer as well as times for communal prayer and worship. And there is always the necessary prayer of service when the ordinary occupations common to everyday life are attended to. But because a Carmelite's main focus is union with Jesus, everything she does becomes a dynamic means of spiritual outreach to every person on the planet.
Qualifications for entry
Candidates should be persons of prayer who aspire to the perfection of charity and to detachment from the world, so that they may be able to embrace our way of life, in which a deeply solitary communion with God is closely united to a sisterly life together in community. They should have an ability to understand and a willingness to be formed in our way of life. They should have good physical and psychological health which is essential for a life of strict enclosure.
Formation program
Formation begins with a one-year postulancy. The novitiate is two years without vows and three to six years with temporary vows before solemn (final) vows are taken.
