The process of discernment before entrance can last up to a year. This provides a practical experience of daily life in the monastery and tests one’s aptitude for it before making the personal arrangements necessary for entering the postulancy of twelve months, followed by novitiate of two years, temporary vows of three years, and then permanent vows for life.
