Mission statement/description
Following the Rule of Saint Benedict and the traditions of the English Benedictine Congregation, these monks have as their mission to seek God first in prayer and then by welcoming Christ in one another and in those whom they serve in their educational and pastoral work. |
Qualifications for entry
This community requests that postulants have strong interests in liturgical and personal prayer and working in a high school of highly talented young men. |
Formation program
The formation program includes: a postulancy of varying length followed by a novitiate year of mostly cloistered life with in-house classes, a second year of continuing in-house studies, and then additional external studies as necessary. In-house classes include: the Rule of Saint Benedict, prayer, Scripture, Psalms, monastic sources, monastic history, liturgy, patristics, and music/voice. Those seeking priesthood will study philosophy and theology externally as needed. Monks who teach continue their education through summer classes as necessary. |
