Mission statement/description
This community states, "Cloistered Carmelite nuns remind the whole Church of the absolute demands of God's love. They give a radical response to the call of God by giving their lives entirely to prayer". By living in this radical way, they bear witness to the centrality of contemplation for all Carmelites and their silent lives bear witness to the world that God alone suffices to respond to the infinite desires of the human heart." In particular, the sisters take part in contemplative prayer for the Holy Father, priests, and the Church. The call to Carmel is a call to serve the Church through prayer and sacrifice. The sisters' charism is guided by their foundress, St. Teresa of Avila, and by St. John of the Cross. The essence of the Carmelite contemplative life is: living in the presence of God, in imitation of their most pure Mother Mary and the prophet Elijah, their spiritual founder who lived 900 years before Christ.
