Mission statement/description
The foundress of this order of cloistered sisters, St. Jane de Chantal, said that their mission is to live a life of perfect obedience in imitation of Jesus Christ and His Blessed Mother. The order, by design of St. Francis de Sales, has always opened its doors to women who were older, to widows and to those with physical impairments. |
Qualifications for entry
Those women may be received who have decided, by an authentic call from God, to apply themselves to the perfection of divine love and who have the requisite physical and moral qualities and are disposed to live in humility, obedience, simplicity, gentleness and self-surrender. No particular educational level is required, though literacy is assumed. |
Formation program
Formation consists of postulancy, novitiate, temporary profession, and then permanent profession. This is rounded out by daily reading, study, instructions and, mainly, living the life as a Visitation sister. |
