Mission statement/description
Although Carmel is enclosed, it is essentially missionary and active through contemplative prayer. Since these nuns live in Utah, which is predominantly Mormon, the Catholic diocese living in a spiritual desert needs the witness and support of the nuns' contemplative life. The nuns live joyfully their vocation of love, prayer and union with God to pray for priests and the salvation of souls. |
Qualifications for entry
Practicing Catholics who are physically and psychologically balanced. |
Formation program
At least six years of living in the community and studying the Carmelite Rule and Constitutions, the Carmelite saints and essential elements of contemplative life. |
