Mission statement/description
The Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word is a religious community of Priests and Brothers, founded by Mother Angelica, seeking to live an authentic renewal of Religious Life in the Franciscan tradition. Living in obedience, without anything of their own and in chastity, they share a common life of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament and in Total Consecration to the Mother of God.

They are dedicated to the work of evangelization, preaching and teaching the Catholic Faith so as to seek out the lost and make known to all men the love and salvation of Jesus Christ.
Qualifications for entry
A prospective candidate must be a Catholic man in good standing, a US citizen, between the ages of 21 and 35, in good health, and debt free at time of entrance.
Formation program
During formation the Brothers are introduced to Religious Life and grounded in the Franciscan tradition. They study the fundamentals of the Catholic Faith and are exposed to the apostolates of the Community. Following a one-year Postulancy and a one-year Novitiate, they take temporary vows. Those who are pursuing the Priesthood then begin their philosophical training in our House of Studies, while those called to the Permanent Brotherhood begin to participate more fully in the media and retreat apostolates and in serving the common needs of the Community. Temporary Vows are renewed each year for at least three years, followed by Perpetual Vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience.
