About Us
Mission statement/description
Under the patronage of the Mother of God, the Sisters dedicate their lives to the propagation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the holy Catholic Faith, with an emphasis on the Byzantine-Ukrainian Rite. The Congregation strives to foster knowledge and appreciation of the Eastern Rite through its teaching apostolate, as well as the publication and dissemination of liturgical books, music, art and literature. The Sisters gather together for communal prayer (meditation, Divine Office, Rosary, Divine Liturgy, visits to the Most Blessed Sacrament) several times throughout the day. They also devote time each day to personal prayer, spiritual reading, study and recreation. The Sisters conduct a nursery school and an elementary school, teach catechism, operate "Treasury of Faith Museum", and provide domestic services to the hierarchy.
Qualifications for entry
A young woman aspiring to the religious life as a Missionary Sister of Mother of God should esteem prayer and hard work. She should have a joyful desire to live a life of generosity, sacrifice, and loyalty to the true teachings of the Catholic Church. Candidates should also be debt-free, possess a sound mind and body, and have completed high school. The Sisters are always happy to hear from souls interested in serving Our Lord as members of a religious community.
Formation program
Six months postulancy, after which the novitiate begins with an investiture ceremony in which the novice is clothed in a full black habit and long white veil. The novice also receives her new name in religion. At the completion of two years the novice makes first profession of vows and is given a black veil. These temporal vows are renewed annually for three years and then again for a three year period. After this, she makes simple, final vows and is given the pectoral cross and espousal ring. During formation the Sisters receive instruction in the following areas: living the vowed life, liturgical prayer, music and rituals, Ukrainian and Old Slavonic languages, domestic skills and the teaching apostolate.
